    What is WISE?

WISE is a Free Java-Based Application that makes irrigation scheduling an easier task by using a graphical object-oriented approach. Since WISE is written in the Java programming language, it will run on a variety of Operating Systems including Linux and Microsoft Windows. By defining variables such as location (for weather), Crop-type and growing dates, Soil moisture, and Irrigation System type and parameters, the task of generating irrigation schedules becomes a much easier one. The soil moisture sensor input page is capable of using virtually any type of soil moisture sensor available. There are a growing number of soil moisture devices becoming available. Although this is a good indication for feedback, Scheduling can be done with WISE using nothing more than Evapotranspiration information if desired. You can use PAWS weather data automatically over the internet, or you can use your own ET data. By laying out the calculations and coefficients in front of the user, WISE avoids being a black-box number generator. You can actually see how it arrives at the numbers. This also makes WISE a valuable educational tool. WISE takes advantage of Reference Evapotranspiration data available from the PAWS weather network. If the user has a PAWS account, they can download ET Data for the whole state over the internet once and generate schedules for that date without the need to stay online. Take a look at some Screenshots to get a better idea what WISE is all about.

What are the Requirements for WISE?

You will need a username and password to access the PAWS weather network. If you don't have a PAWS account and would like to use historical data instead, just use offline for the username.
